Working at Orphnage

Working at orphanage is a rare and first hand experience to the volunteers. There are many street, homeless, parentless and disabled children in Nepal. There are few numbers of orphanages and less member of rehabilitation centers for them. The experienced and sound knowledge of child care on the other hand, are also lacked there. Therefore, we want to care those children with the help of volunteers who are interested, enthusiastic and experienced in the field of that area. The volunteers will be placed at the orphanages to teach and child care. Now, we are working and placing the volunteers at Nepal Children Organization (NCO) of Balmandir and other various orphanages where we do the following activities:

Teaching:

The volunteers will teach the children at the orphanage. When they are placed there, they will follow the schedule of NCO and as scheduled by the orphanages. Normally they have to teach there five days a week and four – five hours a day.

Child Care:

Child care is another important program we have initiated. The children who are disabled, under treatment and homeless as well as parentless are kept at orphanages. Different types of physically handicapped and mentally retarded children are kept there. Therefore, the volunteers who wish to be placed there should have sound knowledge of medical field since they have to follow up the medicine use of the children and their food. On the other hand, if they have child care experience in related field, it can be extra benefit to place them in the particular orphanages.
